The Ministry of Finance of Greece has is going to take measures in order to limit tax evasion. One of those measures will involve linking cash registers of the business professionals with the General Secretariat of Public Revenue, in order for the auditors to have instant insight to their turnover. Another measure is to link the tax-free amount of income with the expense of taxpayers which would be made through credit cards. In particular, it will be repealed from 2016 the requirement for taxpayers to gather evidence for the costs incurred in order to benefit from the tax-free amount of 9.550 euro, which leads to a tax credit of 2,100 Euros. Hereafter, based on the new tax-free arrangement may be justified only through markets with the use of bank cards, which will be made by the taxpayer. Because these costs are incurred by the movement of the bank account to which it is connected to each card, thereby taxpayers exempted from the collection of evidence. Through the cross of spending taxpayers with turnover declared by the businesses and professionals, the tax authorities will be able to check for possible tax evasion. At the same time the Ministry of Finance has begun to prepare for the changes that will take place in 2016 in car taxation and the method of calculating vehicle tax. One of the scenarios that examine the Finance Ministry is to have reduction in fees and the amount of reduction to be incorporated into the fuel tax (petrol and diesel) to connect the taxes on fuel consumption. That way there will be revenue-neutral effect, but will effectively counter the deposit plates due to high fees.
